Is the connection waterproof from the 12s socket to the CTEK lead as will be using outside I plan to put the charger in a waterproof box below the defender while it maintains the battery.

That's exactly how I have it set up.

I've gone the opposite route and left the ctek charger indoors and just extended the low voltage lead from the charger in the garage to the tow socket plug. Not a great lover of trailing 230 volt cables outdoors. Defender 90XS SW

Yes plug from Martin is very robust & up to the job it's doing.

I share thoughts on trailing cable. Solution just has to get me through this winter & then vehicle will either get undercover parking or I'll run a SWA cable out to a post in close proximity to the rear.

How did you extend the lv cable - an off the self or bespoke solution?

I have done this on my freelander, make up a lead 2.5 mm cable with an inline fuse and ring term to the pos battery term drilled and tapped into the term.the other term the same but no inline fuse.then out to the front grill in pma terminated with a plug in weatherproof connection .the lead just tucks into the grill with a sealed cover clipped over it when not in use.then I just connect through the other side of the lead through a flip down cover into the garage and the smart charger.rain snow etc no problems yet.

So now I have got one of the comfort connectors recommended by Brendan. Lift the seat off, slide out the battery cover, this is going to be easy - two bolts with nuts on holding the battery clamps on. I undo them half way, then the nuts stop turning and the whole captive bolt things turn. The nuts don't feel like they want to turn any more. My head is pounding as the alarm churns away....How do i get the terminals of the charger onto the battery clamp bolts (and get the nuts off)?
