Rockjaw, No worries at all mate, but I'm glad I was right!
Funny thing is, I'd never heard of a D.P.F. until AFTER we ordered our 90, but it would've made no difference, I'd still have ordered one.
Interesting you say that Euro V compliant Defenders are now coming in "increasing numbers",....are you saying that Australian '14 Defenders now have a D.P.F., or only that ones specially imported as you mentioned are like that?

The guy at LRA was unclear on that point but he did say some units are coming since their June 30th "arrangements" - this is why I understood him to mean all post June 2013 units would include DPF or EU5 compliance units.

Landrover Aus. also approves the importation of certain orders from UK in accordance with specs from certain specific clients Those appear to be the ones where clients order these units but do not realise their orders include this equipment.

LRA are able to sidestep issues in these cases as part of the terms and conditions of participating in the special imports scheme for these clients.

I am bloody pleased I was wrong actually because I arranged for a few more units to be bought - amazing how easy it is to screw something as simple as a vehicle order up with the wrong information actually. ****CENSORED****

Hi there,
no news?

Has somebody installed an EGT gauge to a 2.2 DPF?
I wonder if the regeneration process could be seen on it.
If so, that could help in not interrupt the regeneration thus minimizing the oil dilution.

I have a gauge in mine, when it's doing a regen even at slow speeds the temp rise can be seen. I've always heard it in the exhaust anyway as the note changes and the sound gets deeper.

I cannot hear it doing the regen. I hope it´s due to the MT tyres. But my aural sense isn´t famous aswell.

Will look into an EGT gauge.

It's not that easy to hear. Mine has a different exhaust on so I hear it better may be.

My dealer over here has just confirmed that my MY14 90 does not have a DPF. Should have the car by the end of the month all being well.

Interesting reading.

Someone asked if the Transits have any issues with the DPFs in the 2.2's... I'm currently after one so have been doing a fair bit of research, but they don't seem to have thrown up many problems. There's the occasional problem which Ford have sorted under warranty but doesn't seem to have been anything major.

Personally, I see it like the EGR valve. Fine while it works, but once it starts to be a problem I'd get it blanked. When I had the Defender (2.4) there were so many stories buzzing around regarding the 'problematic' EGR valve, but in nearly 60k miles I never had an issue with it.

Same with the DPF. I'd leave it to do its thing but if it did start to affect the way the car drove, or caused other issues then I'd seriously consider a remap or whatever, so then it wouldn't be an issue anymore... As for the legality, if I'm completely honest, as long as I seek proper advice from a respected tuner (plenty advertise on here) it wouldn't bother me.

Thank you for the information, it nearly drove me too signalling my own virtuousness👍 I have been very good recently and have stopped cooking up shine because I know it is very wrong!👍 I will now pay Caesar what he is due and be a good plebeian because our leaders know best and we should submit too whatever diktat they issue.

Iâ€™m the same as Pete with straight through from the DPF .
Sound is very audible when regen is on and thatâ€™s around twice weekly .
You can smell it burning and certainly canâ€™t touch the exhaust as itâ€™s around 900 deg
