Engine temperature not rising
Ive just replaced the SCV valve (what an absolute b*****d of a job) and tried to do the relearn routine with my BAS tool.

After sitting with the engine on tickover for 30 minutes I had to give up as the temp never rose above 68 Celcius and the routine wont start until the engine reaches 75C.

Does this mean the thermostat is stuck open? Or do I need to wait longer?

Thanks peeps.

Try covering the radiator grill with a bin liner or similar, it's cold out and defenders tend to be overcooled.

Mines a td5 admittedly, but it won't get warm at idle, and even once it's warmed up, if I sit at idle for long enough it will gradually cool back down. As said, they are overcooled!

Point a fan heater at the rad Laughing

Left mine ticking over for quite a while yesterday after it had been on a long run and the temp fell to 68 on my Ultraguage. Rolling Eyes

You'll never get it to temperature on tickover.
Give it a run first Thumbs Up

Take it for a good hard drive then do the calibration. Either that or you need to bring the engine up to 1500-2000 revs for a sustained period while stationary.

OK thanks to your help Ive managed to get my engine hot.

Unfortunately I'm getting 'failed to complete pilot correction' message together with the number 80.

Any ideas?
