Embarassed not that one, 1999 rave go to trouble for fusing but not thing for relay see link below i have got the information for local defender 130 2000 with electric problems all fix now Rolling Eyes

I only have two relays at the fuse box. 1 x yellow YWB10027 and a black AMR3773. I think the yellow one is for the fuel pump.

I have the rave disc which shows an earlier 1999 wiring. diagram which shows the fuse box under the bonnet.
My car was registered in August 2000.

disconnect the control circuits TD5 alternator control circuits is feed by two fuse in centre fuse box 6 and 7 for 1999
to 2001 TD5

Sorry I have not updated. Have been away for a few days.

I checked the battery voltage this morning at 11.73v, the amp draw at the battery at 0.30 and 0.17 across the 100 amp fuse.

I reconnected the alternator and replaced the fuses am now getting a draw of 0.18 across the battery.

Refitted the relay and the car started first attempt.

The car is now sitting with 0.13 amps across the battery with the glow plug relay disconnected.

I am still not sure what to do now.

I have ordered a new glow plug relay which should arrive today.

My gut feel is that it is the alternator at fault. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Just To update I pulled the 100 amp fuse from under the seat and the draw across the battery has gone down to 0.013.

what else is in that circuit ??

A further update.

I took the car to an auto electrician today and he found that the glow plugs energise when the ignition is turned off drawing 40 + amps.

He thinks the fault is in the ecu as that controls them.

Have you heard of this fault before. Could it be a faulty ignition switch ??

on start up if you switch ignition switch to position II will glow plug light on the dash go off in short time or stay on all the time Question


can not post wire diagrams site still in re build Martin,is working hard to sort it out

yes it ecu as that controls glow plug Relay, engine coolant temp and battery voltage too if coolant temp sender in put too ecu fails ecu will operable pre- post heat time strategies with default valves from its memory

have checked ECU plugs for oil as this can cores all sorts of problems

If the wire from the engine ecu earths out I believe it brings on the glow plugs.

Thanks for the link. I have managed to download the pdf workshop manual. Do you have the link for the circuit diagrams that relate to my model year of car ??

My 110 was registered in August 2000 and is a 2001 model year with a 1A chassis number.

I have had the plugs out of the ecu and took the covers out and it looks dry with no evidence of oil.

I really appreciate your help.

Sorry the answer to your earlier question is the glow plug lamp is working normally.
I have since pulled out the relay and there is now no light on start up.
