Conversion RHD to LHD headlights
I have a 2011 Defender with electronic headlight levelling and plan to use for a prolonged period in europe next year. What headlights do i need and is it a straight swap or are LHD headlight bowls needed as well?

Hi Dickbowyer. You will need a new set of headlights like this;

Of course you could go LED or another brand if you wished.

You may also need a replacement set of headlight bezels (the ring) and clamps if yours are rusted beyond continued use. If that is the case then a nice set of stainless would allow you to swap headlights easily.

You should not have a problem with the levelling part as that is common to both LHD and RHD vehicles.

Of course if you were going belts and braces then a new set of headlights and bezels and it would take 15 mins to swap the headlights over whenever you needed to.

Decided to go with new stainless steel bezels although could use old ones fitted with RHD headlight units
Parts needed including p&p were:

2 x Bezel STC3018SS £28
2 x WIPAC Quadoptic Headlight Units LHD STC1210 £35

Benefits are not having to use beam convertors/black tape at £5-10 ago with better illumination of side of road
Time taken to taken to fit and check beam alignment 30-60 minutes
