Fitting MSS Window Grills
I'm about to undertake said fitting of the side grills. Have no instructions and never done anything like this before so looking for any pointers please.

Will I need to drill anything?
Best ways to take the trim off (if required)?
Do I need to buy anything like trim pins that I'm likely to break?

On the MSS site it says these use existing mounting points so can I just unscrew something, fit and then screw back up?

If I'm right and you fit these with the mounting points on the window side, surely this will make the fiddly as f**k to screw back in? Confused

Hi Grayman. Before I start it is worth the effort. Great product.

These are a little fiddly to fit so do not fret take your time.

These do indeed use the existing bolts that hold the roof and side panels on. You will be able to undo them and slide the mounting brackets over the head before doing them back up again.

Grey trim panels. The rear quarters just pull off from the door side. The larger side panels will need the bolts along the bottom of the panel removing, the seat belt top bolt (17/19mm) removing and the lower bolt (17/19mm) so the panel can be moved out of the way. Then the panel should just lift off the top gutter rail. Refitting will be a pain as the guard is only just smaller than the panel aperture. It will fit but it takes a bit of effort.

The rear quarter guards are much easier. I did have to pack out the bottom mount with large washers.

I have photos somewhere, I will see if I can find them for you.

FYI the instructions from MSS were awful...

I find the metal clips on the rear quarter panels always break so suggest you order spares.

Hi guys,
Are there any pics of this? I have a set that I'm planning to fit over the Xmas break. I'm pretty sure I didn't get any instructions at all - awful or otherwise.

I assume you're talking about the internal fiiting grills? Want to get a set to fit my rear sliding windows and rear quarter windows, so very interested to know how they fit!

I did have a go at fitting these.

Offering them up they are a really snug fit. Taking the trim off was straight forwards and I didn't need to remove the seat belt.

So...the top of the grills bolt on using the existing bolts that hold the car together. I thought I could get away with not bolting the bottom brackets as the fit would be so tight they would be held in place by the trim. I spent a long time trying to get the trim back on! CSK gave me some useful advice about filing the corners of the trim as it just wouldn't go back. It seems that the bottom brackets do need fixing and that will require drilling the fixing holes. As I don't have the right tools I'll be taking mine to CSK!

On the plus side the one grill I have half fitted looks good and doesn't rattle at all even with the trim only half on! Rolling with laughter

I can take some pictures in its half-fitted state if you want so let me know if you need to see anything specific.

Only picture i can find at present,, Yes, need the bottom bracket, fiddley getting the nuts on in the panel holes,,
But really easy to fit, just takes time,,
As you have found, Fitting the trim back is the biggest pain,, but doable,, and not a drill needed

Now the rear quarter window guards are another thing, total pita, so never bothered California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

That's a disappointment. I guessed that would be the case just from offering one up to the window, and thinking "how do you get your hands/tools in there..?" but it's disappointing to hear there isn't a slick solution. eSpecially as those windows seem to be such a weak point. Pop out the NS one, lean in, open the door, and the rest of the guards are rendered useless, no?

I think I'll have to at least try and see if I can manage something.

Any pics / advice specifically on the rear quarters would be appreciated.
