Defender/Disco v8 4.0 - centre console.

Hello all,
I am about to start fitting my v8 4.0 auto into my 200tdi defender.
I have seen the contre console from a v8 disco on eBay and wonder if it will fit once the v8 is installed into my defemder?
The NAS defender centre console is very expensive to buy, has anyone ever fitted the disco centre console or made their own?msee the attached photo
Any help appreciated, cheers

People have converted to the disco version, assuming you're cute with tools, it's not a massive job.

As the shifter is on a cable, mine is mounted next to my handbrake for easy reach and i can still use a normal cubby box.
It seems a shame to lose a big cubby box, just to have the shifter in the middle. @v8_scumbag

Whilst it is daylight robbery the Ashcroft '50th' style centre console looks the part and finishes it off nicely. I 'metaphorically' cried when I ordered mine but it does look right and set's the shifter nicely.

it is robbery as well. It doesn't even have the cup holders like an NAS does....

Not a bad thing, I always find cans fall out of them (original 50ths and first version of Ashcrofts).

Current version takes an iPhone nicely, I like it.

If (when...) my 110 goes auto I wil probably use an Ashcroft console, I like how they look (especially in a 110! Laughing )

It would probably be cheaper to have a company fabricate a metal and leather cover for it, than that Ashcroft item 1993 200 Tdi 90 CSW

I have used the tunnel, carpet, sound insulation from the donor disco. I cut the parts to the correct size and used silicone to fit it to the Defender. It works perfect and I think looks very original.

Yes, it looks very original.
I don't have pics of the install. I cut out the tunnel out of the discovery I used for the automatic transmission. this is a discovery 1 wiht mechanical transferbox linkage arms and not with cables. Measured the distance of the levers to get it on the original position in the tunnel and cut the tunnel down to make it fit to the bulkhead, floor and seatbox. when this was ok I also cut the discovery carpets to the right size. The discovery floor hight is the same as the defender floor hight. when everything was correct I fixed the tunnel simply with silicone all around to the defender. If needed you take a knife, cut the silicone and you can take the tunnel out again. The discovery tunnel is bigger than the defender, so I cut the floor to the tunnel dimentions.

That's all. Smile

Since I used the discovery gearbox and engine, a 3.9V8i, I also fitted the dash, under the bonnet fusebox and wiring of the disco. Most wire colors are the same on disco and defender.
