R380 slickshift
Any advice or reviews from forum users who have tried and tested the slickshift for the defender r380?

Cheers

Definitely worth doing, much less movement of the gear lever, plenty of "how to" vids available. Jeff

Why change it? It's not a sports car and I like the feel that you are really shifting gear like on the Massey Ferguson 35 where I learned to drive on.

But maybe I am not the average 90 driver.

Deffo change it, worth every penny + the clutch spring mod. Makes it much easier to drive.

Why change it? Because it makes the Defender easier to drive, less like stirring pudding more precise throws

I’ve been thinking about this but honestly, I don’t think my gear changes are that bad and I have air-con and I’m worried the extra height from the spacer will cause me to bash on the trim in first...

Easily one of the best modifications you can make to a Td5. As others have said, don't even think about it - just do it! Out of all the things that I have done to mine the slickshift and smaller steering wheel are right up there as two of the best (for me). 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Do it.

It's more eminent on a r380 with vague shift and I didn't notice much change on mine after fitting as mine was shifting good. But when I drove another the movement of the stick was so much that I told the owner to put one of this in and it has been much better. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
