Small update

Its still at the garage....but its not all bad as I'm getting on quite well with the guy and I'm using his garage to do some work while its there now.

He's patching up a couple of bits on rear of chassis (you can see a part he is going to patch) and then putting the new floor and supports in.

I've been up their sanding, painting, rust proofing. Messy jobs so handy I'm doing it away from the boss and our Drive Smile

Part way through me covering it, It was raining and I'm literally stood in boot Smile

Now I have a little more time I can sort out some Dinitrol and longer hoses to get into the box sections. Quite please I'm actually working on it now also Smile even though its still at the garage.

Then as If I don't have enough on I've bought a little project for my lad... Need to sort and engine / battery / drive etc... But should be great for him... ooh and I will paint it the same colour as his dads Smile

OK so Sunday was the morning spent at the Garage where my toy is... rustproofing and general sort at the back. Then home as the little lad was out to spend time on the toylander (see other thread)

Finished covering the rear under the boot with rust proofing and wax oil.

Then as I was waiting for stuff to dry decided to do the rear cross member.

An update Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

MOT passed today Very Happy

A couple of advisories

- Oil Leak.... Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

- A track rod ball end joint dust cover deteriorated but preventing ingress of dirt?

- Water Leak --

Now the water leak is the water pump on its way out so while its at the garage he will change this for me if I get the parts, pipes. Anything else I need ?? (fan belt)

So I now need to sort my garage out that was cleaned up for this, but then I did the toylander.. I just hope it fits.

Happy though as it will be home to mess about with soon,

Thumbs Up Happy Friday All

Did you not have new rear bumper grab handles? You should have taken the old ones off and sand around them just in case the new ones are slightly different in size.

^ I will sort again once home.

I've bought so many bits over the months I do forget what I have, I should have a list. Very Happy on seconds thoughts maybe best not to if the Mrs see's it.

Well today I stopped on way home and its having its new Water pump, fan belt, pipes and clips etc. Thumbs Up

I was going to do this but he said the bolts could snap and they are a bit of a pain if that happens so as its there he said he will do it within the price we agreed... So tonight I need to get change it from SORN to 'Tax' it ready to use Thumbs Up

How exciting

Do you know why the spare wheel carrier is mounted so low on the door? It doesn't look like you could actually put a wheel on that?

Looking great btw Thumbs Up Matt.

It was an attempt to stop the doors cracking up so much from weight of the wheel. This is back before they even added the third hinge to the back door. It didn’t really work and stopped you using the towball without removing it. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Well done, Nice to see another S3 being rebuilt, they were much maligned in my youth as the rustiest rovers, should see the state of the one I'm rebuilding for swmbo.

Basically new chassis and bulkhead and rebuild/refurbish of all the major components.

Just ditch those horrible 6.00s and get it onto 7.50s and itll look the business.

I agree, never understood the low spare wheel mounting, that I agree with the previous poster, the doors do fatigue especially with 7.50s on. What I found with my first 109 was the steel frame cracked, so I fitted a spare wheel carrier, this then fatigued the rear tub! shoved it on the bonnet, makes it bloomin heavy to open and reduces visibility, shoved it on the roofrack, a Censored to get down! laid it in the tub, its just in the way. Theres no winning with a LR spare. He who dies with the most toys wins Smile
