I'm sold on the idea, just need to justify the cost at the moment! Neutral My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html

While I was away for 6 months my 19 yo son installed one of these in my MY15 without Dad's permission:-

https://www.seicane.com/android-radio-gps-...sd-s168600

I was FURIOUS! ... but after a few days I became quite impressed, especially after the kid upgraded the O/S to Version 7 and installed steering wheel controls to match the headunit.

The system now has wireless rearview camera, wireless tyre pressure monitors "TPMS", absolutely PERFECT voice command systems & DAB as well as perfectly useless stuff like in car TV, OBDII etc

I moved the microphone to the top of the a-frame near the sun visor, and it works perfectly over there

I already bought a double din for the truck which I have not bothered installing because the 1-din system does everything I want.

The hidden hazard on the dash is not a problem but the air con does sometimes freeze up at the back of the monitor.

My unit can fold the screen away and operate 100% on voice commands anyway, so who needs a screen. After the novelty of having a 2-Din screen in the truck wore off I find I use voice for 90% of my needs and the screen is only used on rare occasions - who needs a screen anyway if you can operate perfectly adequately on wheel controls and voice?

Am I "lucky" to have a kid like that or should I take a whip to him?

Ah I see, pity as that would have been a superb system to use GPS mapping by road and OS mapping for off the road.
They always do these sort of things, where there could be superb features they won't let you due to so called compatibility which is in my view deliberate for financial purposes.

Better use really just using iPhone on the windscreen, especially if it's a larger iPhone.

On a different note, I think it's a great pity this unit doesn't have HDMI seeing a it is jam packed with other brilliant features.
It ticks nearly all boxes but that single one would just finish it off to do everything in my view.

HDMI input, would allow you to use HD Freeview TV, not whilst driving which is obvious but whilst parked up or you could listen to it.
If you had deep pockets and a 110 you could also stream this to AV screens to rear passengers on the rears of the headrest.
But that would cost a lot of money.

You could still do this using AV in, even if you have a rear cam also as there are two channels.
But you would only get SD quality, and I'm not sure what quality you'd get picture wise.
My guess is, not too bad but not brilliant either.

Should anyone wish to try it, there are plenty of DVBT tuners on eBay for quite a good price, not sure if Pinoneer do one?
Prices are very reasonable compared to the HU, and a lot cheaper than they used to be.

At some point in the future, despite the lack of HDMI I'll probably go for this HU.

Except the screen resolution on this Pioneer HU really sux ****CENSORED****

Typically earthed in most cases, however, just to be sure check it for voltage.

I trust you won't have visual video playing on the move anyway.. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

I understand the pioneer system is a little more complex in that it needs to see a combination of ground-open-ground (to signal handbrake on, off, back on) there are companies that make a bypass solution.

It also locks out certain menu options etc - not just video in motion.

Anyway, very very pleased with it

Brian, I followed your advice and since grounding the handbrake wire (it must be grounded when the unit is powered up, not after) then it works - strange but good!

Anyway using the unit all day today and I’m so chuffed with it - fantastic / ticks all the boxes Thumbs Up My 90 Project : http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52774.html
