The height thread

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can do me a favour - measure the height of your defender 90, 235/85r16's and stock suspension from ground to its highest point. I know the 'offical' documents say anything from 2000 to 2187?.

Maybe we can make this thread a resource for the common question of 'how high', 'will it fit' etc etc.

So, get your measuring sticks out.

Template -
- make
- year
- tyres
- lift
- measurement to highest point (roof at back door?)
- roof rack if any
- measurement to highest point on rack

United Kingdom 2016 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Keswick Green

I did this just before my 90 arrived last year. It's totally standard and on MTR tyres. Measures a fraction
under 2 metre's at the high point which is the back of the vehicle.

My garage door is 2.07m high, so no problem !

1993 200tdi 90 265/75/16 BFG's + roof rack (Discovery 2 rack modified to fit 90, so stands a little taller). Stands 7ft 2inches or just a shade under 2.2 metres.

Australia 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 Heritage Edition SW Grasmere Green

I did this exercise recently as we bought a new property that neither of my Defenders fit in the garage, so had to build a separate shed!

2015 Defender 90 Heritage is 1980 mm's to highest point.
2000 Defender 110 TD5 is 2060mm's to same point, which is roof at the back above the rear door.

Both on standard Continental AT's. 1955 Series 1 107" Pick up.
1977 RRC Suffix 'D'.
2000 Defender 110 TD5 Xtreme.
2015 Defender Heritage 90.

Bear in mind the height will depend on whether the car had HD suspension fitted as an option when it was new. HD springs make them sit higher.
It also depends on the spec, a USW sits higher at the back as it doesn't have the weight of the seats in there to compress the springs.

The heights in the Handbook says something like "With all accessories fitted" - which means a roof rack and i would assume standard suspension.

Thanks to all who have replied so far!

If you haven't included tyre size/lift/etc in your post, would you be so kind to update your post?

My Defender 90 is as follows -

- MY11 Defender 90 Limited Edition (Australia)
- rear seats
- 235/85/R16 on Sawtooth Alloys
- Standard factory springs
- No roof rack
- Highest Point = Xmm @ rear edge of roof? (will measure once it arrives, its on a truck from Perth to Melbourne)

-----

Also worth noting, how high are the ribs on the roof? 5mm?

Very Happy Thumbs Up

Continental Cross Contact 235/85 R16 on std Alloy Boost and std springs, no roof rack, no RAI

2030mm highest point rear of roof

I won't go in multi-story car parks with height less than an indicated 2080mm (small speed bumps in floor can cause bounce!)

NOTE: Radio aerial is a reasonable tell-tale being 2050mm fully extended - do you really believe the signs in car parks?

(long term plan, as wife allows: safety devices full roll cage [better than a roof rack?], Raised Air Intake SN4 [may not fit with roll cage?], remove XS carpet as water gets in!)
