After hours of googling images and pondering this I have finally parted with money.
I'm getting the Howling Moon Swing Awn 2m.
Patiently waiting for delivery. Will post up some more here when I've got around to fitting it...

Thanks all for your input!

Ok, so after a really long wait the Howling Moon Swing Awn arrived and I fitted it over the weekend.
Incredibly happy with it, it's free standing in low wind conditions, has built-in legs and nifty little pockets for the guy ropes.
Hight quality materials and they have really put a lot of thought into the design. Open really fast, closes really fast, I will get a lot of use out of it..
I've two negatives, first of all is the print on the awning bag itself. It's ghastly. Too large, too bright and far too in-your-face. There's no need for it. Second is the quality control. Parts of the bag have nice straight folded seams and other parts are just rough cuts, the rough cut is jamming the zipper in one location. It's just really annoying when the product is otherwise soo cleverly designed.
I would very much recommend this for anyone looking for an awning for a 90 though.
I would post pictures but photobucktet is dodgy at the moment.

Hi Dan.

I’ve just ordered a Howling Moon 2.0m 270 Swing Awn and I need a bit of help.

If possible, please could you tell me the distances between the channels on the back of the awning so that I can prepare the mounting brackets I’m making, and do you think that two vertical brackets welded to my roll cage would be enough to support the awning?

Any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Pete.

EDIT. Dan has very kindly answered my question with a PM. Thanks. Pete.

Its very flexible and has been very well used over the years - one of the best buys we have made ! Thumbs Up

I use some thick bungle cord from the rack to the tie down points on the chassis to tie the side of the awning to and have a ‘bead slide’ attached to the roof rack now to feed the awing on to as well Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html
