Well I finally got around to sorting out the rear pick up area, changed my mind a few times, Ifor williams, Canvas back , back to hard top ......
A Canvas tilt came up for sale on here at the right price, so the decision was made....
Many Thanks to JimC Thumbs Up

Also changed the tailgate to side opening, after one of the dogs, in a hurry to get out, nearly strangled herself between one of the drop down tailgate cables, as I lowered it Shocked

Still playing around with wheel choice, had boosts with general grabbers ...looked too new !! now have white rims on don't like that either.....any suggestions welcome, maybe a set of 8x16 silver modules with a 285 tyre

Great work, looks amazing, better than new! Thumbs Up And tax exempt!

I wouldn't normally say this but I think I prefer it with the silver boasts to match the galv rock sliders and rear cross member, maybe add a galv bumper? James

Hmmm... interesting thought James, a galvanised front military bumper, would look good and maybe then go with the silver Modulars and ST Max tyres.

Have I just made a decision.....maybe not Rolling with laughter

Time for a bit of an update for anyone who's still watching !! Been driving it the last few months with no major issues, apart from the canvas back wrecking my head flapping against the cab so it had to go !!
Its now a hard top and I can't get over how quite she runs, noise was one of the main reasons I didn't want a Hard top but there is no exhaust drone like the TD5 90 HT we have and will sit pleasantly at 70.... Whistle

Also trimmed the seats to match the nice new cubby box I made up...... rear prop needed replacing as the splines were worn, also had a small engine oil leak from cooler pipe at the filter just need a tweak up.

I need to re visit the rear springs as the rear end is still a bit lively as rarely carrying any load, currently running puma station wagon springs. I thinking maybe light duty OME 752 I think rated around 220lb mark.

Time for an update
Transmission slop was getting worse by the day , so ordered up a new gearbox from Shabs at Syncro Gearboxes, V8 5th gear and heavy duty bearings.
Took it to my local Indy to install, as much easier with the use of a lift, rather than me trying to wrestle with it on the driveway.

Anyway my troubles were only beginning...the transfer case was fooked....the wrong length bolts were used last time the box was mated to the gearbox, and had fouled the gearing, picture of the offending bolt below, ......Lesson learnt , split the box before installation when doing a rebuild just to take a look. Strange thing is last time I changed the oil there was little to no metal in the old oil, so assumed all was ok Shocked

Lucky for me Dave had a decent 2nd hand one on the shelf, so I'm back on the road with the new Syncro Gearbox and I must say the drive is much improved and the V8 5th gear is the business..

Now to hand over more money to Shabs for a new transfer box Crying or Very sad
