Travelling to Ireland with dogs from UK

I am going to a cottage in Donegal in November for a week via either the Cairnryan to Larne or Belfast ferry.
I plan to take my 4 year old lab but I will also have my new 11-12 week old lab pup with me as well . Is it just a straight forward thing like sit in the vehicle with them until we get there and then drive off or is there red tape crap to deal with ? I see on the Stena website it says your dugs can stay in the car with no fuss ? Wondering if anybody on here does this trip with minimal hassle ?

I've taken the dog before from Hollyhead on the fastcat to Ireland without a problem. (a few years ago though)
The dog stayed in the car; and its was only a 99 min trip.

I think from memory you aren't allowed on the car deck when at sea; so you won't me able to stay in the car.
(its a crush risk in case vehicles move during travel).

The dog was loose in the car; not caged in; but we could trust the dog not to chew! and as the car deck was empty she just settled down and waited; no stress or anything.

The pup will probably follow the 4 year old; you know your dogs so its pretty much a gut feel.

Stena will say that as it is domestic service between two parts of the UK.
Once you cross the border dogs should be on pet passport

Took the ferry from Stranraer to Larne and vv a couple of years ago and it was very easy. Dog stays in car (2hrs on the fast cat) and thats pretty much it.

No border controls between North and South so no problem there either Very Happy
