Road tyres advice
Hi.

I drive my car for 90% on tarmac. When I don't it is pre- planned.
I have currently BF Goodridge AT's 265 75 16 but after 130.000 it is time for a change.

As a winter tyre I have Nokian Hakkapeliitta 235/85/16
For mud I use my Michelin XZL's 235/85/16

What road tyre is advised for economy and road noice?

I've only ran my defenders on BFG AT and Continental Cross Contacts. Happy with both of them for both on road and occasional off road. Defender 90XS SW

Michelin latitude cross. Or, if you can find a set, Michelin XZY as used by the army on Snatch Land Rovers. 18 ply rating or 12 ply rating depending which you prefer. Capable of colossal mileages and will also handle some really bad road conditions

If I'm reading the OP correctly, he is looking for a road focused tyre. For me wet grip rating is one of the most important things for a road tyre so I'd be looking at a b or a rated tyres only. A quick look reveals only few tyres in Defender sizes with good wet ratings, one being the b-rated Michelin Latitude Cross, so I'd probably choose that. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

^^ he has dedicated winters, dedicated mud and wants a specialist road tyre.

I don't have enough experience of different choices to make a firm recommendation, but I have used Latitude Cross on another vehicle and if I was the OP I would certainly be considering them. Also I would be looking if Nokian made something similar to the Hakka LT2 but in a summer compound. I have the LT2 winters and could imagine that a similar tyre in summer compound would be a good option.

Or just go for BFG AT or an MTR because that is the standard response to anyone asking for a road biased tyre Laughing

Thank you all.

As apt100 is saying.. Most tyres are a compromis. Therefor I am looking for a dedicated road set. Not much info to get tho..
