Do these Continentals need replacing?
Hi Chaps,

My 2012 DCPU has now covered 42K miles and the tyres are starting to look warn. I suspect they've been on there since new, and the spare wheel hasn't ever been fitted.

My previous 4x4s had road biased tyres, so determining when these needed replacing was easy.

Do these look like it's time to change, or can I keep going until I reach the 2mm legal limit?

It depends on vehicle use, I'm going to replace my Continentals before the winter. They have a minimum tread depth of 3.5mm and I know that will not give me good traction is mud or snow. However I live in the hills on a road with steep (up to 1in5 (20%?)) sections that is rarely gritted. Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Plenty of life left in those, so long as there is no cracking of sidewalls etc.

Wish my set had lasted that long, I wore them down to the legal limit in 33,000 miles Sad

They look quite okay, I wouldn't run an ATR or MTR lower than around 4mm personally. Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️
