Fuel breather pipe
While under the car I spotted a split on the fuel breather pipe

No sign of diesel leaking out. Looking at the pipe, it appears to be a fuel tank drop down/out job to replace?
Or I split the pipe and join with a new section? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Not sure about the Td5, but on a Puma 110 it is not a tank removal job. Access with a Puma 90 is more difficult though.
Not sure if you saw it, but there is very good older thread on the matter with good suggestions for improvements. Good to bring this up here again, because these fuel breather pipes are actually a service item as they all seem to deteriorate with time. See below.

I had both hoses replaced on a service in June.
They were both splitting. 2 months later the breather hose split at the tank.
Filled up in a local station and Diesel poured out.
Had to drive it around to get the level down. Everywhere I went it stank of Diesel.

Garage couldn’t understand why the hose had split. They replaced it and it’s been fine since.
If it’s splitting at the top, it most probably will split at the tank end.

My hose was a straight through no breather on it. Garage checked as they purcahsed it direct from LR. 110XS CSW TD5.

I have this problem. I did not know about it until i filling too much with the fuel and lots came out from the upper part of tank. I noticed smell for a while before though. It is cracking at top and at tank. Very common issue because of low quality material at factory.
I ordered some marine grade of pipe to replace. Much more better.
For a 90 it is a situation which is requiring the fuel tank to be removed. I believe on the 110 you can have access without this work.
