Squeaking ABS modulator mounts!!
These are driving me mad!!😡
I have taken the bonnet off and the wheel arch eyebrow. This has allowed me access to remove the air intake. I can now see the bolts and the rubbers. As I wiggle the modulator and squeeze either of the two rubbers the squeak stops. I have sprayed the mounts with GT85 and the squeak has stopped. However, with such limited access I do not want to be attempting to spray them every time the squeak returns.
I have taken the modulator out before when I had the three amigos but I cannot remember how it mounts specifically. Do the rubbers just sit in the cup or are they more like an exhaust mount with two bolts protruding from the rubber at either end?
Does anyone have any advice as to how to stop this squeak that is beginning to make my beloved defender undrivable...if only I was deaf to high frequency like my old man!!!!2002 110 td5

Here is the rubber. They just redt inside the cup with no through bolt. However, should the rubber sit all the way into the cup? The one you can see in the picture protrudes around 10mm and the one at the other side even further, to the point that wiggling the modulator results in the rubber popping out of the cup. Is this normal?
I had the local garage replace the switch. Is it possible they could have bent the front bracket forwards to make the job easier and therefore not allowed the rear rubbers to seat properly when they put it back in?
