Father's farm contracted by cousins, so not fully informed. Today it was 17%mc dropping to 16% but will get mixed in with some drier grain harvested a few days ago, so shouldn't need drying. Yields seem good 10-11 t/ha on continuous cereals, so can't complain.
Tomcat, the contractors have better taste in tractors than combines!

And here is the wheat harvest finished at our house.
A genuine Soviet Realism very large oil on canvas painting I was able to buy in an ex-USSR country now many moons ago, depicting a ballet of three Niva SK-5 combines from the 1960's made by Rostelmash in Rostov-On-Don, plus a Kamaz truck and a few farmers. A typical scene as they liked to paint in the USSR days glorifying their Kolkhoz and Sovkhoz collective and state farms. Today this is all nostalgia, farming there has made great leaps forward and while you still see modern Rostelmash combines in the fields (the company still exists and today produces new models), you see more very recent John Deere, New Holland, Claas and Massey Ferguson machines there on farms than anywhere else. Not difficult, a decent sized farm there today is from 10.000 HA (we call that small), going up to 50.000 HA (medium sized), and even upto 200.000 HA large. I still see occasionally these good old small Niva's there though, but now mostly as wrecks in a corner of a barn. Eric Click image to enlarge You never actually own a Defender. A bit of last minute sweeping up round the back of the house this afternoon. Axial flow on tracks for a bit of variety. Being helped out by Claas LEXION 770...........and not enough trailers
