Brecon area, places to explore, park and walk?
Hiya,

On holiday with the family and tintent. Staying at the cc club site near Brecon.
I
As I am in the 110, it would be nice to use its abilities to go places, park up somewhere remote-ish and have a nice walk for an hour or two with the family and dogs. I'd like to return to a whole unmolested Land Rover if possible.

Any help or suggestions? On locations, parking etc? Of there was a land owner on here who would let me park safely that would be fab! V8 90...WIP

Go up on the brecon beacons heading towards Builth Wells, plenty of places to park up and have a wander.
There's plenty of places around the area just ask someone local while you're there Thumbs Up

Well, sadly for you (and Weston18), looks like the chance for any after-hours, extra-curricula fun is now over:

The waterfalls are well worth a visit

Car park at Cwm Porth has a tiny shop with an all day attendant.

Sgwid yr eira can be spectacular and there's the added bonus of an easily walked path behind the fall - a real adventure for the kids. ............ the current rainfall should make this a "must do"

Hit some of the minor roads around this area and you can soon be out in the wilderness. It started with a kiss, never thought it would come to this.

If it's dry, take a ride to Kington and find your way to the lane that leads to Hergest Croft Gardens (just out of town). Park near to top of the lane (I've left my 90 there several times for hours on end) and get the dogs and kids up onto Hergest Ridge.

The path to the top of the ridge is not much more than a gentle slope and provides 360 degree views of the whole of Herefordshire and beyond!!

A favourite of mine "The Cat's Back" - fantastic views!! A bit of steep climb from the car park, but well worth it on a good day.
Do the full walk in a clockwise direction to get the best of the views.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will check them out. We have three days left Inc today, so we will see what we can do. We have climbed some hills whilst here, but our large dog ( a Bernese Mountain Dog) can't get over stiles, and he is a handful climbing anything steep...and wherever sheep are loose he wants to run and play, meaning you get dragged a fair bit.... He is still learning at 2 yrs old and it's his first sight of sheep and hills so he is a bit excited!

Thanks once again. V8 90...WIP
