Wiring of a switch help needed.
Stuck on a project popped the question on 'In car electronics' section but no response so hoping someone who reviews this section may be able to shed some light ( Whistle ) http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic55452.html

I want to use this switch to turn on/off an interior led strip light, the switch has also a light. It came with a wiring diagram that I can make no sense of any help appreciated.

Hi,
the link doesn't work.
From the "diagram" Laughing it could be a DPST switch with a dependent light, meaning the switch (dis)connects both plus and minus, and the integrated light requires you to connect plus (anode) and minus (kathode) as depicted to be switched on along with your LED lights.

Assuming it is an led light in the switch, then power feed positive to anode, earth to cathode. Then positive to lights from 'equipment' anode, earth to cathode. Looks like a double switch which breaks the feed to live and earth.
LEd's require correct polarity to work, and your lights should show the +ve and -ve connections.
Hope this is of some help

***POSSIBLY****

Power cathode - to ground
Power anode - to equipment anode
Equipment cathode - to 12V supply
Equipment anode - to item to be powered

Although I'm not sure I would trust a switch without good documentation Confused  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

I had a look at this when first posted but couldn't make head nor tail of it. The link describes it as a SPST switch but it looks much more like a DPST version.

If it were me, I'd test out the various combinations with a continuity tester to see what's connected to what. Darren

Thanks for all the replies, Martin that is the interpretation I was hoping for.

So what next, I think I will do a mock up of the system using a 9v battery and led bulb I have lying around just to make sure. When I purchased the switch from amazon I didn't realise it would be coming from China Whistle typical Rolling Eyes Adventure isn't paved!

So I did a electric lab mock up as my multi meter had my head battered. The out come was top two terminals power in with the right hand side being positive and left negative.
And the bottom two terminals going to the LED strip lights (+/-) as above, what a Banging Head carry on for a non technical bod like me, but the satisfaction of fettling it Thumbs Up Adventure isn't paved!
