Bali - Defender tour

Yesterday we did a family tour with Waka Land Cruise.

http://www.wakahotelsandresorts.com/waka-land-cruise/day-trip

Really great day. Bit pricey but we had the new Defender and an awesome guide/driver called Putu. Pick up was just after 8am and we didn't get back to the hotel until after 6pm so it was a bit long for our kids. However, my wife and I learnt more than we have about Bali than from all our previous trips here.

Also once we got slightly out of the main areas we hit the little laneways and paths and didn't see a main road again until late in the day.

Basically we were immersed in rice paddies, tiny villages and smiling and waving kids and locals. So different to all the other tours we have done and not as tacky or commercial as the usual offering. Putu especially made the day with his passion and enthusiasm (plus he is a Defender nut as well).

Main disappointment was many of the roads are being upgraded so not as off-roading an experience as I would have hoped. But still bone rattling and visually spectacular.

Great photos 👍 I did the Waka land cruise a few years ago in Bali, was the best bit of our holiday. Did they take you to the bamboo restaurant in the jungle?

Yes - we went there. Great little place and pretty good food. Hilariously they kept trying to get me to drink their cognac. I was told it was included but really didn't feel like it despite their repeated attempts!
