New chassis ID
I took my van in for MOT today. While I was at my mates garage I spotted a new Richards chassis for a 90 laying on the floor.

Just what I need for my 90 I thought Cool . Its going to be fitted onto a 1992 LHD 90

Any how what went through my mind is when you buy a new chassis. Do you have a chassis no stamped into the front?? Chris

Have done this on my brothers 90 when we rebuilt it & kept the OSF chassis leg with the number on from the old chassis.

Is it possible to get the chassis number stamped in by the manufacturer before its galvanised does anyone know?

Always keep the sales invoice for the chassis too,
I've stapled mine to the log book.

Not sure if they would stamp it,
Richards put some sort of code/part number on at manufacture, so why not? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Doesn't matter if you stamp it after galvanising. Galv is self healing anyway.

It would be a good idea to stamp it in serveral different places as well as the factory one, makes it less appealing on the second hand parts market......

OK thanks,

I thought a chassis company may want proof that you own the land rover its going to be fitted too thats all, IE details of the V5

I am going to buy a new chassis for my 90 project as the old one is not worth messing arround with.

I need to email to find out some more info any how so I can ask them direct

Thanks Thumbs Up Chris

They just supply the part (the chassis) and leave you to fit it to what ever you want.
