Assuming the 110 SW front section is the same as the 110 DCPU, then yes you can remove the front section with out taking it all down.

In the DCPU I had to remove the small side sections first before tackling the front panel. As a word of warning, the fir trees are a right PITA, so make sure you get a proper trim removal tool. Now gone - 2012 2.2 110 DC XS

Take the sun visors and mirror out then take all the fir tree clips out. Then it's just a case of gently bending the sides of the head lining out from the side plastic trims and it should come out of the back door. Ray

Thanks chaps, will maybe have a crack at this at the weekend, but only if I can source the correct gland type connection.

However, I may have some help on that front.

More info when i progress a bit more.

Cheers

Yep, thats the one.......yes i know the history, before anybody else says it.

So far so good, all i will say on that, don't want to jinx it!

Thanks Justin for the photos, much appreciated Smile

Anyway, I fitted the spotlights, ref the spotlight thread below:-

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53654.html

Not wired up yet, I'm having a real dilemma on what to do on that front to be honest, run cables up along the snorkel and cut out the old wiring job altogether, running my own loom to the battery box.

Or do i remove the headlining and do same as per the original set-up and retain the old loom....

If I knew the size of the hole before i committed to taking the roof lining off I'd be more comfortable, as i could amass the parts prior to doing the work.
I hate the idea of starting and being unable to finish as I haven't got the right part!!!!

See pictures below of the truck with lights fitted.

So, today i fitted the LED Headlights, see LED headlight thread here:-

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic52115.html

I really like them, they need to be re-adjusted, but otherwise they look good, and are better than the old set they replaced. So whats not to like???

HALO ring not wired yet, need the DRL controller to be fitted, next wkd job.

I also fitted my Cubby box cushion i bought 3 months ago.

One challenge is the cubby is not correct size, so the cushion is a bit undersized.......I will take a photo to show you all, but think its a reasonably easy fix, will google cubby boxes on eBay methinks.

Also removed and repainted the chequer plate on the wings....looks good now, and screwed tight to the wing now, due to binning the shagged rivets and replacing with nylocks and washers (SS).

Also removed the old wiring loom to the roof rack, mainly as I have changed my mind on the wiring route due to good suggestions on my Spot Light thread.

http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53654.html

The old grommet in the roof is not leaking, so why disturb it? I will use the old conduit though to run some wires to the rear of the truck for work light etc.

Thats all for tonight Smile

Cheers
Andy

Having an annoying problem.

Engine sounds like its pinking at low rpm, in some situations, not always, but sometimes.

Sounds fine when cold, and revs freely.

When hot, at low rpm, circa 1500 to 2200 rpm, when under load it sounds like it pinks or knocks, but importantly, the engine doesn't hesitate and revs freely, it still pulls very well, regularly pulling hard in 4th and 5th and 6th. Just an annoying acoustic issue Smile its not audible to my wife, just me..

Spoke to Ian at IRB (on a saturday night and sunday morning), and he suggests EGr or VCV could be a problem.

Diagnosis is to remove the MAPT and see how it looks as indication of EGR health.

Photos are below.

EGR ordered from Ian.......

May not solve it, but its evidence that its not working properly anyway.

EGR was last replaced at 21k, now on 78k...

Cleaned up the sensor with brake cleaner and refitted.

Cheers

Decided to clean the MAF as well, just, well, because. No issues, no reason to suspect it other than, easier to do it and learn how to do it I guess Smile

Only way to learn is to have a crack!!!

Anyway, see photos below Wink
