Taking cappings off and rivet guns? on a series, few things.
Hello

I have a plan to replace my SIII cappings with newly galvanized ones.

few questions please...

1) Are they easy to remove? do you drill the off?
2) Are they easy to refit?
3) What size rivets do I need, do they all use the same size? are rivets different quality.
4) What rivet gun?

I already have a cheap rivet gun, not sure its up to the job? maybe it is. (did I mention it was cheap...)

Thanks in advance

Hi, did mine on my Td5 at home.
It's a straightforward job just drill out the old rivets and rivet the new capping on.
I just used a standard rivet gun the same as yours.
You can support the roof and and get enough room to take the side panel out.
When you fix the new rivets it's worth putting some tape around the rivets to stop the rivet gun scratching the paint.

Yes it has a self adhesive seal between the body and the capping.
I used some replacement double sided foam where mine was damaged. Defender Td5 Commercial 2002
