We hava a 2008 model at work, still going strong with next to no issues, the rear diff can give problems so listen out for noise in the back axle.

Freelander 2 is probably the most reliable vehicle that land rover ever built Whistle

As Nidge says rear diff noise, various rattles from exhaust heat shield, check the cruise control works properly, prone to stick and fart around, if has terrain control go through all options make all works, Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

We had one for nearly four years. Basically faultless but traded it in for a D4 when the rear diff got noisy. Darren

We've had our 2007 model 3 years 6 months, now with 85k miles. Rear diff was repaired FOC by land rover. Other than that, no faults. As your friend says, buy it.

Absolutely no issues except for wear and tear since we have owned it from 2010
