England 2004 Defender 90 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue
Me and blue. Our journey so far.
hi chaps, my names Reece aka Hollywood. thought I should start a thread on my upgrades/upkeep of my 2004 defender 90 td5. I have grown up on farms in Hertfordshire and might aswel of been Ferrell. so it will be no surprise that I have spent my childhood and teen years driving defenders of all years, models and sizes. Iv owned a lot of cars for a 27 year old , all sorts ranging from focus rs's and 205 gtis to classic trucks and monster trucks lol ........ so my dream car has always been a defender but work commitments and travel time meant I had to have a daily drive. Recently everything has worked in my favour, I'm an aerospace welder and I'm now working closer to home and recently been based at an Essex fire and Rescue station locally so both job situations mean one thing.......... DEFENDER TIME!

About 6 months ago I bought this , despite being a little hacked off with the rising prices since looking a few years ago I wanted one and was going to make it happen.

the journey so far has had its ups and downs to say the least.

I new what I wanted to do modification wise but you are never quite prepared for the little machanical jobs that jump up and bite you on the arse.

So far modifications:
chequer plate kit
Snorkel
new front light surrounds and grill
New number plates
New front bumper
Paint and sort out cross member
New rear mudflaps
spare wheel carrier
new wheel nuts
air con front grill
rear seats
Rear carpet
New steering wheel
cubby box and new top
New rear lights and wiring
New landrover badges and lettering

it's had a full service and some. It's and bobs sorted, the back door rattle is driving me insane despite purchasing new parts like lock mech, silk, wheel carrier.

It cut out one day and stopped starting so I narrowed it down he the wiring loom having oil running down in (injecter loom)

Rear brake line coroded one day driving home and gave up

about 2 weeks ago I noticed the braking getting worse and turns out both callipers have seized haha

None of the above bothers me it's all part of the journey and I know that. Despite the rattle from the rear sometimes makes me want to drive into the nearest tree, flat out, in reverse. so here she is today and a few stages of owning it.

so a few minor issues on the list to fix!

sort out rear brakes
i recently acquired a leak coming from behind the dash assuming it is either door sill, vents sills or possibly coming through the snorkel bolts. also going to remove headlining and check above window screen.
The rear wiper packed up.
the rear door rattle is still putting up a good fight so will be buying a new hinge kit for that next!
I would like to have a windowscreen company fit a new front screen rubber.
will be getting the roof sprayed gun grey once the rear calipers and discs are done.
then a wax oil .

Iv also really been fighting the urge to pull the top and sides off and order a canvas kit, but I'm still weighing up options with that one will have to see what happens and see where this thread goes! il keep it updated.
