ratio kit
one of the previous owners of my 2004 TD5 90 had a 'ratio kit' and retune fitted in 2007. the ratio kit cost £240 +vat.

it might not be much info but does anyone know what this could mean to how it drives?

there isnt any more info except it was done by DSE landrovers in macclesfield, who i belive are no longer.

I'd guess they just put a set of 1.2 gears in it to replace the original 1.4, it only effects the high ratio.

It was a common modification to TD5 Defenders, especially when they'd been mapped, as it makes cruising a bit easier although some people find it a bit over geared, especially if you then put larger wheels/tyres on. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
