Rear indicator wiring
Hi all, my right rear indicator had a lose connection which was rusty so I ordered a bearmach extention and cut off the connector.

I have attached scotchloks black to black and green white to green but now the indicator won't work.

What have I done wrong?

If that'd be me, I'd be soldering that joint and using adhesive heatshrink and get rid of those awful scotchlock things.

You need to test earth continuity with a Multimeter and for voltage at the pins.

Check the obvious stuff such as fuse and bulb and, as Steve says, test for continuity to earth and 12v.

The Scotchlocks really are a poor solution but unless you've made a real hash of fitting them, they shouldn't be the cause of your woes whilst brand new. Darren

It'll be continuous right up to the front of the vehicle via the loom that passes up through he chassis rail. Practical options are to solder and heat shrink the joints as Steve says or, if there's enough slack, fit a new plug to the cables at the point where you've currently joined them. Darren

Are a good alternative to soldering and heat shrink, crimp them like a normal butt connector then heat them up and the glue lined plastic melts to form a strong waterproof seal.

If you have any more scotch locks, just bin them they're useless things! Even if they work initially, they'll cause no end of grief after a few months at best
