I can't get to the drivers side because the blower is in the way.

I've just been through all of this with mine. You need to take out the instrument binnacle and probably the plastic cowl that it fits into in order to get at the screws that hold the windscreen blower in place. I say probably as I have a Raptor metal cowl that has different cut outs to the standard one, so I didn't need to remove that bit.

The rack that you've replaced passes through three metal tubes - one either end and one between the wiper wheel boxes. If you've put a new one in without slackening off the connections between the tubes and wheel boxes then it's probably just kinked as it' passed through. The only real solution is to strip out the top of the dash to gain access.

The rack shouldn't project out beyond the end of the end tube on the drivers side. The one I've just fitted was a lot longer than the one I took out so it was necessary to cut it down to suit with a hacksaw and then file off the end until it was smooth.

I did see a kink in it I loosened the passenger wheel box. I will.loosen the drivers side tomorrow and see what happens 2001 90 TD5 CSW Alveston Red Manual

I have now solved the problem.

The tube by the motor wasn't fully inline with the wiper box so its now firmly in line, I managed to twiddle the outside spindles to feed the rack through more then I attached the motor.

Very fiddly way to do it but at last I can now use my wipers again after nearly a week!

Thanks guys for the help.

I will post photos of the motors position (vertical) so other people who have this problem know what it looks like.

Oh I also managed it without taking the drivers side blower off which was starting to get to me.

Thanks again

If you've gone to that length, do the whole job and replace the wheel boxes too - they will give you problems in the long run. I posted a full write up on the job with photos on here. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but search for the likes of 'wiper replacement 2004' and it should come up. Not a difficult job, you were most of the way there.
