Main Beam Dash Indication Bulb
Hi...im new here. Blame a couple of Bristol boys for me being here. Just gone from Disco2 Facelift to a 110 Defender.

Only driven it to work and back this week so not had much daylight to fiddle.

One of the first annoying things is the Main Beam indicator light on the dash didn't work. But last night and tonight it began to work....intermittently. Do others have any experience of this problem? Will it be a loose wire on the dash or is the switch known to be faulty?

if its the early style that are filament lamps rather than TD5 that was a slighly more moden LED panel; then its likely to be a dodgy bulp or dirty contacts. The bults are in a holder that fit into the panel and twist through 90 degrees; the holders have contacts that make electrical contact with a platic membrane PCB.

The panel removes with 2x screws and the whole lot comes out from the front with only two plugs on the back; remove it take all the bulbs out (they are all the same) and clean up the contatcs with WD40 or a proper electrical cleaner and a light wire wool.

its the copper coloured bit you are giving a slight clean up.
Part number AEU2721 £23 from Paddocks if you decide to replace.

Well, I finally decided to have a got at this tonight.

Ordered the part, just received it. So took the dash apart and ran into a problem. LED, I have a LED board rather than bulbs in holders.

By the looks of it, I either have a dry joint or a loose wire.

I have a similar problem with my heated rear screen tell tail LED, it flashes like mad then after 10 minutes stops altogether.
Need to get it stripped and have a look.

We have a winner. Dry joint. Quick heat up and a dash of fresh solder and its all fixed.
