Refitting a double cab hood to back of tub.
Hi All,

It's been many years since I had my hood on my double cab, and thought I'd put it 'up' for a few days, before I fit out for Summer camping mode.

Unfortunately my memory fails me, and I don't recall how the hood fits to the back of the cab:- the rear drip channel is there with a plastic insert, but bottom skirt of the hood doesn't appear to have any way of fixing it into the channel. Am I missing something? Looked on web and couldn't find a fitting.

Also Exmoor have clamps in their kits, which I certainly don't recall having?

Any pointers/photos would be helpful.

Thanks

Rob

There's a 'retaining strip' that clamps the hood onto the drain channel using dzus fasteners

Hank,

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't recall those at all, but will google:- I wonder would it be different for an 03 model?

Cheers

Don't know, but the exploded diagram looks the same for TD5 and Puma

Seems as though you're missing these

Thanks Hank again for the links and time. Very helpful. Definitely missing those parts. I'll search further for an image of how it all fits together.

So as we established the 'Drain Channel' is pop riveted to the rear of the cab and the 'Retaining Strip' slots into the canvas hood and then fastens the hood to the drain channel with 1/4 turn Dzus fasteners.

The orientation of the Retaining Strip is shown in the following link, you will also notice it has four slots and four holes. https://www.landroverworkshop.com/diagrams...xing_52698

Drain channel shown on the left, Retaining strip shown on the right...

The retaining strip is basically a length of angle aluminium and slots into a 'channel' sewn in to the front of the hood. The four slots I previously mentioned in the retaining strip locate the retaining strip in position around stitching in the hood. This will make more sense when you look at it than it does in writing...

From outside the hood (the retaining strip has been rotated almost 180 degrees for the photo)

From inside

The following two photos shown the Retaining Strip fitted to the Drain Channel with the 1/4 turn Dzus fasteners. So the canvas 'channel' sewn into the hood would be vertical inside the Drain Channel

This is really difficult to explain in writing but if you have parts 24, 27 and 4no. 26 & 29 from the landroverworkshop link then that's all you need

Hank,

That's brilliant. I can see and understand now what exactly I'm missing. Pricing it up, it also doesn't look too expensive to finish the set up (though some other related parts are ridiculously priced for what they are). Thank you for all your time.

Cheers

Rob

No probs. The only thing left to fathom is where your original bits went! Laughing
