Check your heater hoses...
Just had a 2010 90 brought in to the workshop due to a coolant leak,
The problem was the bottom hose from the heater matrix rubbing against the red lifting eye.

I know it's been talked about in the past, but well worth having a quick look under your bonnet just in case yours may be doing the same?

Along with sorting the pipe, the customer was happy for me to remove the lifting eye to prevent further trouble.

Wasn't there a recall for that lifting eye to be removed? Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I think there was a recall..

Mine however, still has the bracket and I've checked mine and no issues.
Seems to affect some, and not others.
Turbo hose clearance between it and the steering shaft is another to watch.

No recall for that, although the more common problem was the bracket working loose and rattling or falling off. Many brackets either fell off or were taken off for that reason.

Thanks ian series 1... Thumbs Up

I have a MY2011 90 and will check tomorrow...but I've been all over mine and are currently convinced that I don't have this lifting eye fitted, mines a Dec 2010 registered model...so maybe this was dropped at some point... SKIP

It might have been a TSB (i've not checked) rather than a recall.

These are just where LR have identified a common problem and found a solution, but owners of vehicles aren't specifically notified unless they report the issue or it's found at the time of a routine service.

It's possibly an item that was used for assembly, but supposed to be removed once the engine was dropped onto the chassis, but on some they probably forgot.

It does seem a bit odd?
I've just checked mine and the hose is a good inch away from the lifting eye,
Whereas the one I did yesterday was very tight to the bracket?

There is only one hose listed, so not sure why some do and some don't?
Maybe down to whoever fitted them at the factory? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"
