Thermotop E no fuel
My Thermotop E was working fine - then it stopped clicking and no fuel was pumped
There is plenty of fuel in the tank

I have tried removing fuses - but still no priming clicks of fuel
Everything else sounds normal

Any ideas ?

Unplug the pump and Jury rig a lightbulb to the connections.

If it flashes when you try and fire it up the pump is dead, if it doesn't then there may be a break in the cable or a fault with the controller.

is where I would start, I'm by no means an electrical expert but it may save hours of stripping and buying parts speculatively. Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Thanks Shaggydog
I did not install the heater myself
Is the pump located on top of the fuel tank ?
That is where the clicking noise use to come from
So do I need to drop the tank for access ?

I'm afraid I couldn't say without looking.

I put mine in the rear wheel arch as the pickup for these pumps isn't that great so it will be close to the tank somewhere.

Failing that, where did you get it installed?

Give them a ring they may be able to diagnose it or take a look Thumbs Up Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

Found the pump and tested the wires with a volt meter
The earth earths fine
Volt meter reads a constant 8.5 when turned on
I thing something has gone wrong - so a trip to the garage

I don't know the Thermotops, but the Eberspachers are very voltage sensitive, check your battery.

There may be a blockage in the fuel line, after the pump or as it enters the heater. It will not pump against a pressure hence not getting the clicking sound. If you can disconnect the fuel line after the pump and try starting the heater you can see then if it's the pump or is a blockage, as the pump will click again.

Thanks Andrew - I eventually found some time and disconnected the fuel line after the pump and the pump worked fine.
I then disconnected the line as it enters the heater block and then blew out the line with an air hose.
Re connected everything and webasto now working perfectly - just in time for summer
