Regarding the VW "fix" for the emissions cover up
Some people are not happy with their car's performance after the "fix" has been applied.

Over here, the general consensus is that you have to have it done, otherwise the vehicle will fail it's next TÜV (MOT). However some report that they passed without the mod. No one really knows what the right approach is. Definitely hasn't helped the used car value, with or without the mod. Diesel fuel is still attractively cheaper. Once the price is levelled and the city bans on pre - Euro 6 vehicles come into effect, things will change for the worse. 1998 Tdi 90 SW,
