opinions on dodgy wheel and tyre set please.
Hi all,

I have just taken delivery of my new sawtooths (copies) with BF Goodrich KO2, with much excitement.

However, one of the rims has got a big buckle in it on the rear edge. Obviously, this one will be going back

BUT

The rims are clearly stated on their website as being rated to 1050kg but are stamped on the back as only being rated to 975kg. Is this a big problem and should I be sending them all back?

Thanks

I'd send them all back, sending a wheel out like that is simply dangerous.
There is no possibity imo that, that is in transit damage and has not even been checked Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

I agree with Steve.

You have to question the quality of the tyre fitting as I can't see that wheel was balanced with any care!!

No way an inflated tyre would allow the alloy to be dented in transit like that IMO.

Where did they come from as the Alloys must be really poor quality?

Irrespective of the damage & how it was caused/why it got through quality control, I would reject the lot as the rims are not the load rating they were advertised to be.

Just a thought, if the rims are poor quality copies, can you be sure the tyres are not copies as well??

I would reject the lot and ask for a full refund. (1) They are not what you ordered and paid for (inadequate load rating) and (2) they are clearly both defective and of inadequate strenghth.

I would suggest that the bent one has been dropped from a height without the tyre.

You might even want to consider a chat with Trading Standards.

Also no weights on the pictured wheel. Have they been balanced at all?

They also look like the 'thin spoke' versions which I gather are best avoided. Phil

I would contact the company straight away and sent the picture,

State obviously your not happy the fact a rim is damaged and also that the weight stated on the website does not mach what has been delivered.

At least give them a chance to remedy what they have done first before jumping in.

Its bad, its annoying, frustrating but can be sorted. Thumbs Up

As aside what tyres are they they 'look' huge compared to my std 235/80/16's

I have been in touch and they have been very helpful. they are obviously replacing the buckled wheel straight away but also assure me that the wheels are rated to 1050kg and that it was a stamping error at the factory. They say they have all the relevant paperwork and test reports to back this up.

I will still be sending them all back however and will purchase elsewhere, if that is an option. 2002 110 td5
