Wheel balancing issue
Hi all

I have had new VBS Nemisis alloys fitted to my truck with my original 265 75 16 BFG KM2 muds which are nearly half worn but still plenty of tread, I now have the steering wheel wobble at 50-65mph and its been balanced twice by the same people do I go else where or continue to get em to try balance or do i get some new BFGs? Maybe go for K02's as I do a lot of motorway but also a lot of off roading and driving in rock quarries for work so I need a strong tyre. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

I had this a while ago Big Cry Did your tyre man turn the tyre on the rim at all, at least a couple of times to see about consistency, its worked for me in the past, but if he has done this then get rid of them, i did in the end as they just would not balance Thumbs Up 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. 265 is a heavier wheel than was fitted as standard so will highlight any other issues you have with your steering. I would be checking the swivel preload and drop arm ball joint if I were you.

I have 265's on a Defender and no issues with wheel wobble - but I did do the swivel preload myself so I know its correct. 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP

I'd second the swivel preload theory.

I had continuing wheel balancing problems - just s slight wobble at 55-60mph. I had the wheels balanced many times but what solved it was checking and resetting the preloads to the correct values.

It completely sorted it and it would be the first thing I'd get checked if I experienced the same thing again. Dave

Its a longshot, but I had the exact same problem !

Though I did notice that if it started rattling and I went round a reasonably sharp bend it stopped !

Drove me nuts for about 8 months, sometimes felt like the truck would rattle itself to pieces,

I thought I just could not get the front balanced at all .... drove the local tyre fitter mad .... in the end I tried completely different wheel/ tyres....

EXACTLY THE SAME !

Turned out that it was the 12 month old ! Panhard rod bushes... passed MOT with them , couldn't feel any slack on them myself but in desperation I replaced the bushes and panhard rod this time

.... all sorted no problems...

Seemed weird then not to have the problem after so long 1984 300TDi hardtop Stornoway Grey
