right door window offline
Hi guys,
I'm here today to ask for your guidance and wisdom. Here is the thing.: mine is a 2007 defender, i have front doors electric windows and the right yesterday decided to stop working. Luckily it happened while closed.
Now, this morning i have read the wiring manual, removed the door card, opened the dash, found my trusty tested and started the investigation. Result:
1) it s not the switch, all wires that go in/out there carry current as expected.
2) it is unlikely that is the motor but i cannot rule it out completely
3) of the 2 wires that go on the motor, one carries current, the other doesn't. In fact if i probe one of the 2 i get a reading (which goes away if i click the switch on the dash) while the other is constantly dead.

Now my questions:
1) am i right in my assumptions that it might be a wiring problem?
2) the electric diagram shows that the wires from the switch go to some intermediate connector. Where is it? If i find it my plan is to check if the current is lost before or after that?

The first thing I would be checking is the state of the wires going from the bulkhead to the door, much like central door locking problems the cause will be a wire broken in the part of the loom that flexes when you open and close the door, the most vulnarable part.

From memory, the two wire to the motor are both positive, dependant on the position of the switch, to control which way the motor runs to move the window up or down. With the switch in the rest position you should not get a reading except zero, with the switch up or down one wire will give a reading. I seem to remember up is red and down is blue and the motor is earthed through it body. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

That's curious... now it seems behaving opposite. When i press the switch the current goes. I'll open the door card again and check the loom that comes from the dash.

You guys are unbelievable!!! Job done, it was indeed a cut wire in the loom that enters the door (blue wire, window down)

Check the other wires while you are there. I had exactly the same issue, the blue had broken but when I looked at the red, it was weak and was pretty close to failure too. You don't want to have to do the job twice. 2007 Defender 90 XS

Yes the other one was also cracking so replaced them both with new better quality cable, thank you for the advice 2005 TD5 90 CSW XS

I have the same problem. Not for the first time. Both wires have broken in the past and have been replaced. This time the readings are correct so what is wrong? Peter
