That time of year (again)
This seems to get more complicated every year!
Latest idea for the insurance companies seems to be to force you to use their specified garage for repairs or double the excess. Means it takes even longer to get a quote.
My existing cover with Geoffrey (aka Chaucer) is now just over £400 las year was a fraction over £300
NFU wanted £704 Shocked
A Plan couldn't do much (one of their companies does the dodgy garage deal too).
Tried Adrian Flux, gave up part way through - horribly agressive call handler (please and thank you would go a long way)

Lowest quote on Moneysupermarket was £255, but that didn't work as they don't recognise the number plate for car insurance - have to go van and that didn't appear to work either.

Not sure I can cope with any more calls - may just stick with Geoffrey. Big Cry

Did you try the A-Plan Thatcham office? They couldn't have been more helpful to me and very competitive. James

Yes, they were very helpful, just not very competitive.
My 15 plate 110 XS is pretty close to factory spec and off-road is minor, so I don't need anything special PRoblem with the other quotes is being both/neither a car and a van.

Prior to being with A-Plan, I was with LV via Nationwide. To be fair Nationwide were a similar price but wouldn't cover for green laning, so to be safe went with A-Plan (I'm remapped to +50BHP with several other cosmetic mods). Some would argue green laning is just unsurfaced highway so shouldn't need separate cover.

Like you I unfortunately found NFU and Flux very uncompetitive. James

Have you tried aviva, been with then for the last 3 years and they keep beating the competition, did my 90 as a van and they allow fitted windows and rear seats at no extra cost.

Aviva insist on using their recommended garage. National chain, no guarantee of LR parts. I really only want a local independent to do the work. My nearest LR garage (in York) sent a previous repair to their recommended garage. Just a new wing, but came back with the headlights pointing to the sky.
