Switzerland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
Replaced the FCX leather clad dash parts by genuine leather clad Adventure Edition dash parts bought from Dan at Duckworthparts.
The FCX parts are just fine, nothing wrong with them, but the genuine Adventure Edition leather quality is a level higher, but that quality does not come cheap. Whistle
Very easy to take old off and put new back, biggest job was to remove from the dash cover part the Land Rover Switzerland 67YRS edition mini LED MagLite support, and install that onto the new dash cover part. Patience is a virtue here, but it all went well. Below are a few pictures of the installation and of the final result.

Picture of the FCX dash part removed which shows the two blue plastic clips which hold the dash cover screws. These were still discussed in a recent thread on here, and I just want to stress that they are as rare as hens teeth. Don't loose them because you will not be able to order these from Land Rover. They don't even had a part number!!! Matter of fact when back in 2012 I installed the FCX leather parts, one of these blue clips was just absent from my SVX, it never was put in at Solihull assembly. I then tried to order a blue clip from my dealer, then direct from the Swiss JLR importer, from Dan, from hardware stores, but to no avail. Luckily Bob Neville had a few spares and sent those to me. Still thankful and I still owe him a good beer. Thumbs Up

Blimey Eric, I'm sure I remember you saying a few years ago how you wanted to keep yours original? It looks like you've got a real hybrid now with all sorts of different parts fitted, although it's good to see that you've adopted the more traditional approach to Land Rover ownership Laughing Darren

Darren, after all I've done, do you think I should consider removing my SVX badges and install an Autobiography badge instead? Wink
Naa-ah, that would be a bridge too far I think. Laughing

Froglaise, afraid the Startech matches the Adventure leather as well as it matched the FCX leather. So that is a keeper I'm afraid, not much that you can improve on a all black Startech. Thumbs Up

And below is another black detail that I just installed this morning on the truck.

Andy, thanks for that suggestion, but I think the three Adventure edition dash parts, the Adventure edition cubby box lid, and the Adventure mudflaps are sufficient for me. I would not start to replace door cards, etc. That would just become too much I think.
I like it the way it is now, in the foreseeable future concentrating on maintenance only, maybe will take it to Carrosserie LEU in Biel-Benken this spring for a Dinitrol respray as the last one was 3 years ago, and if I do that I will ask them to take off the Kaymar wheel carrier to inspect the rear crossmember surface behind the carrier mounting plates, and let them completely respray the rear crossmember once again in satin black (as it is already now).
Then will see if Olaf from Entreq is still interested to install uprated electrics/uprated wiring loom for all my non factory items as he and I planned to do already two years ago but never got to it. That would be for the front fogs, the DRL, Landreiziger loom, Scenelight S17, possibly let Entreq add intermediate rear wiper function too. The nice thing of that would be that all relays and the correct coloured wiring would come together in a panel at the side of the seat box. A bit like in below picture. You think you are done, but it really is a never ending story, hey. Rolling Eyes Laughing

A slow start, but you have to begin somewhere.

Went from this...

This is the current model VW 12V lighter plug. Nicer than the unmarked genuine LR version I think, but not too fancy for a Defender. Requires a tiny bit of filing, but then it is a perfect fit.

More significant upgrades will follow later this spring. When my friend Olaf will have some time to install my greasable hinges, and probably a few other things too. Laughing

So a bit more serious stuff now. New aluminium greasable door hinges to replace the genuine ones which saw several of the pins rusting for years now and regular use of ACF50 clearly could not reverse that. Our dealer has a very good body shop and they did a great job. They used all new door bolts (genuine mild steel which seems the best in combo with these alu hinges), plenty of Weicon paste which I supplied them, and the doors are perfectly aligned. These hinges are black colored aircraft aluminium, eloxal treated, and we first debated to yes/no paint them in Santorini Black, but decided not to, also partly because the SVX comes standard with matt black 60YRS stickering. Good decision not to paint, the hinges in their standard form melt in with the car colour perfectly as is. At the same time the body shop also freshened up the paint on the rear cross member (which was painted the last time about 6 years ago or so). Looks all like new again, and thanks to these hinges no more rust streaks on the doors when driving in the rain. Expensive, maybe, but I have never seen a high quality hinge like this.
Available from Entreq, Matzker in Germany, from Rauh Engineering in Switzerland, from Defender Upgrades/Gareth Williams in the UK. Thumbs Up
Eric

Some pictures... BTW, no need to comment on the little whitish spots on my car paint, that is just rapeseed yellow pollen dust which is all over the place here this time of the year. Laughing
