United Kingdom 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Corris Grey
Cheers Mark d
The 110 is noticeably louder than my 90, there's a horrible vibration type thrum (I guess) between 1750 and 2000 rpm when pulling through the gears. Not sure whether its directly through the engine or vibrations from the body. It's annoying, never bothered with any soundproofing in the 90, just the factory carpets.
Thanks again

Just wondering if you got to the bottom of the noise? my Puma 90has recently started making a slight rumble around 2000rpm, never used to do it. Iv looked over all the obvious things but have not got a clue?

I've been doing a fair amount of sound proofing in my 300tdi recently, and it's made a large difference. In particular; front seatbox, footwell, and bulkhead, plus an engine blanket.

Up until now I've been using a combination of Silentcoat mass damping material and Dodomat closed cell foam. However, I recently also came by a dozen sheets of open cell foam. Is this worth trying, maybe in the headliner where it's not going to get wet? Or is it pointless, and I should just stick to Dodomat everywhere?

Thanks
