Left hand drive handbrake?

Does the left hand drive Defender TD5 have its handbrake on the left hand side of the vehicle? If so, is it a feasible mod to fit a lhd handbrake setup to a right hand drive car? What parts would be needed? 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Left hand drive hand brake lever, and blanking plugs for holes from original mounting.
I think that is it

Why would you want to do this?

It would invalidate TA and may cause MOT and/or insurance issues, I should think, since it would be hard to reach and pull effectively when belted into the driver's seat.

@blackwolf I would assume to reclaim some space in the drivers footwell. Agreed it would be a long, awkward reach to get to in the LH footwell though!

@GarethR, maybe the range rover Handbrake lever mod would suit you? puts it on top of the seatbox. (at least I think it's an old RR lever you use)

@BCdefender, what's the third lever by the gearstick for? PTO?

Would not be an MOT failure - have a car with the hand break lever under the passenger side glove box, never had an MOT issue and it's not a classic car.

An alternative might be RRC or D2 lever on the seatbox, a popular and easy fit as long as seats and cubby allow.

Since when has a Defender hand brake been easy to reach??

The guy who took me on my half day LR Experience told me he had to modify his handbrake as he had a three point harness and absolutely no chance of ever reaching it.

Just remember that the transmission brake is also the secondary/emergency brake, it's not the best at this but I have had to use it. Trying to hold the wheel steady and keep an eye on the road whilst leaning over into the passenger footwell might be interesting.

The likely hood of having to do the above is slim but when it comes to modifying the brakes I would ensure it will not compromise your ability to control the vehicle, a few people have moved it to ontop of the seat box and this to me makes more sense. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html
