1993 side indicator removal
how do I get the rectangular side indicators off? I have a short somewhere and need access to this light - it seems pretty secure in the wing, doesn't have a visible screw on the outside, and is shielded inside the wing by another piece of metal and i don't think I can get my hand anywhere near it. I could possibly take off the wheel arch liner but there's a few things bolted to that so it's not a trivial job.

Some internet sites suggest it slides forwards and clips out - and it might, but it's pretty solid at present so I thought I'd check on here, as it's not that clear it will move.....

Anyone done it on a 200tdi of that era?

It is pushed in on tapered pins moulded onto the base, sometimes with a self adhesive pad across the base.
It will need therefore to be gently prised off.

Ooh, thanks for that. It's a question I've been meaning to ask myself as on mine, one side has been replaced but the other side is the original.

The replacement is fitted with small nuts and bolts and it's possible to get access to the rear by taking out the headlight. Darren

From what I recall the answer is No as the inner wing is in the way. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Mine was held on by a self adhesive pad and some pins that push into the body work. heating it with a hair drier should help loosen off the adhesive, then pull gently but try not to pull the lens off the fitting... I replaced mine with a new one as I pulled the lens off the fitting Laughing I was unable to get access to the back due to the inner wing as stated.. but the wires are long enough to reach though, I have to use a small set of steps.... Shocked
Mine is a 1993 200tdi
