Fitting Single Arm Rear Wheel Carrier
Hi All, Im feeling a little inadequate in the knowledge department so thought Id ask you lot !

I have a TMD Single Arm rear Wheel Carrier (made by Safari Equip I believe) I have a couple of questions as it has no fitting instructions

1) there are two plates that come with it, I think they are backing plates that fit to the back of the Cross member can you confirm this ?
2) I have a bunch of what look like short sections of pipe ! (I think they are Crush cans, by reading on the forums) How do you get them into the Cross member to sit between the plates and the bolts to then go through ? (if that is correct !)

3) I have to enlarge some holes in the Xmember I was going to use a HSS Cobalt drill ? will that work ok ?

4) Why cant it come with instructions !

Thanks for your help....

Sell it and buy a Mantec carrier ... or wait 18 months, then remove the single arm carrier, and fit a Mantec

from look of the plate, i would say yes you are correct it goes inside the cross member, two of them?

spacers fit between the crossmember plates i would guess - presume some long bolts came with it?

just line up bolts andpush spacer up into space whilst trying to locate bolt into spacer, magnets can help and a good torch! and patience. Cheers

Thanks James, I had thought it would require a bit of patience ! just wasnt sure. Both plates are similar, same overall size, one has a a cut out square section on the bottom, the one in the photo does not.

cheers

One plate goes to the Outside of the Crossmember the other to the Inside, The Crush Cans go inside the Crossmember, lots of struggling to get them to fit, you may have to reduce them in length to get them to fit, the bolts go through the Crush Cans. If you shorten the Crush Cans repaint the ends and refit with lots of Grease followed by some Dinitrol or similar. NormanD WE191
