South Africa 2007 Defender 110 300 Tdi SW Chawton White
General SAG Radial for daily driving
As per title.

I almost done with my choice of tyres for the Landy.

I see that the General SAG Radials is available at my local tyre shop.
The price is also not to bad.

This won't be for commuting but it is my only vehicle.
So I would like to get some feedback on the following points:

1. Ride quality
2. Road noise
3. Wear (fast,uneven or good)
4. Long distance on tar if vehicle is heavily laden in hot weather (overlanding)
5. Long distance deflated.

Wales 2006 Defender 110 Td5 SW Alpine White
I run the general sag on my 110 and I consider them to be an excellent tyre, quiet and hard wearing. I run them at the recommended pressure and have found them to be great on long motorway journeys. To top it all off, they look fantastic and suit the sge of the vehicle. I don't have any experience on airing them down. Go for it, they're great tyres. 2006 TD5110 station wagon

Our 110 had SAG radials with tubes when we bought it and it was horrid in the wet. I presume the rubber is quite hard. The mileage was unknown, but although they still had plenty of profile, we had to change them because the carcasses were worn which caused strands of steel to come out of the rubber inside the tire, and puncture the tubes. In the first year, I had five flat tires, two of which on the same morning in Iceland! I replaced them by Cooper AT3's which felt sooo much more secure on wet asphalt and cobblestones, not in the least because the SAG's are not siped. The SAG's did have a certain age though. Maybe the rubber gets harder and less flexible in time, new tires might do better.
It is a tire with 'classic' looks, and I like the visual quality of the profile: sturdy and purposeful but modest at the same time - but I'd never buy them.
