2011 TDCI door lock fail
Hi, I have just noticed that my near side rear door fails to lock on either the key or remote. I can lock it manually by pushing the button down but it just remains and will not operate. Any ideas what i should look for before i start ripping door cards off?

Thanks in advance!

Mine did that. Broken wire. Getting the door card off isn't difficult, just be careful not to break the clips. Wait til you get a warm day, everything gets brittle in the cold.

Thanks guys, is it likely to be where it enters the door?

They all do that indeed (second row doors on 110s). I had my right side rear door wire replaced a good year ago, so that was after 7 years, and the left side wires broke just two months ago and were replaced recently. Probably good again for another 5 years or more now.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Yes in the rubber flex between the door and pillar is a good place to start looking. If not in there then the trim will have to start coming off 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Mine were done a couple of years ago under warranty. With kids the rear doors get used a lot and the constant bending of the thin wire snaps it. The dealer was well aware of this problem and always uses normal electrical flex from a Twin + Earth cable for a more long term fix. He even showed me how to do it myself should it happen again (except I've forgotten Embarassed )
