So, having damaged my paintwork in August 2016, dropped my vehicle off for a full respray covered by the valeting company on Dec 1st 2015, you can imagine my surprise today, 20th Jan 2016 from the insurance company offering me £3500 to collect my vehicle unchanged and to quietly go away.

Not much longer bloody thing drinks more than a fish!

Have they given a reason for the offer? Or just decided they don't want the hassle as they can make a faster buck elsewhere? 2.2s drink because of the constant active dpf regenerations. The best I ever had out of my 110 was 24mpg on a run. It had only done 2k miles though so was pretty tight still.
As for the offer I would get a quote for a proper respray from a good bodyshop - ask them for a quote including removing arch spats and roof etc so it is done properly. If the quote is over 3.5k which it could well be if going to town then go back to the insurance company and start negotiating.  2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Id take the doe and walk too, take it to a reputable spray shop as stated and get a quote.
Looks like they didn't want the hassle in fixing it due to the age, just one of those things really. I didn't know Pumas were that bad on MPG! can you not map these to be more MPG friendly? Nothing you can do about the dpf legally. The 2.4 is better on fuel because it doesn't throw a gallon of it down the exhaust every 250 miles. All this gubbins to reduce emissions and they have to use more fuel to make less emissions. Bonkers isn't it

Afraid I,d be more cynical about the offer.
Rare for an insurance company to be looking after YOUR interests. There has to be a underlying reason. You hold all the cards, accepting the offer and taking it back would mean you're accepting that the matter is resolved and you have no furthur recourse. You know your landy, is there any reason you can think of why they dont want to do the paint job ? (eg Rust previous repairs etc?) You have the benefit of a courtesy motor (bargaining chip) and do not have to accept yours back until satisfied. Another option could be a respray where you insist, but you'd loose the courtesy car, as they dont have to supply if your not using there approved repairer |

Just to update on this.
Having thought on it over the weekend and taken advice I have approached the dealership who is in charge of sorting this problem out and asked them what is happening with the repair. The insurance company have no right to contact me, the work was all agreed and signed off to be done and reimbursement for the work is between the valeting company and the dealership. This leads me to 2 conclusions. 1. The work was agreed between the dealership and me, all signed off on the assumption that the valeting company/insurance would cover it. There is now a shortfall or lack of payment and wont cover the full repairs it so the dealership has washed there hands of it and the insurance company are trying to settle to make me go away. In which case they are in breach of contract and have lied to me for the last 5 months. 2. The work was never agreed, the work was never going to be done in which case I have ben lied to for the last 5 months and they are again still liable for the damages. I have given the dealership 12 working hours to come back to me with a full explanation on why the agreed work hasn't been started or it will be escalated further. Ok so last week has been a week of finding consecutively bigger sticks to beat people over the head with but, and having to tread very legally here we have reached a "full and final Settlement"
The upshot being the SHB 110 has to go back asap, I have to collect my 200Tdi at the same time, unchanged from when I dropped it off 2 months ago. I will be given a settlement which is basically a "go away and never come back but your not allowed to come back to us and moan etc" This doesn't help the fact I have been lied to, intentionally mislead and financially out of pocket not to mention the fact the repair still hasn't been done. But the malice and lack of willingness to do a good job has forced my hand as I just don't believe any party has my interests at heart. So I'm collecting my truck, taking the money and will be spending it elsewhere. A very sad and bitter end to an ordeal which has been a nightmare from start to finish and the end of a relationship with a dealership who's new owners have no regard for Land Rover Defender Owners. On the plus side, I will now have more say over what is done and how its done and by who so that can only be an upside. For now tough I just want my truck back. How you've been treated is not good but this may be a blessing in disguise, at least now you can choose your bodyshop and negotiate a price and make one top class motor

For now I just want to get her back and use her as is for a while. I want to work out exactly what I want from her and what direction I want to go in. Forum suggestions are always welcome

Hi My Boomslang loom arrived today, hopefully will try to fit it this weekend, your thread is sure to be helpful
But I am wondering how you got the connectors through the yellow plastic cover? the cover is flexible but not enough to stretch to get the connectors though.... any tips? it would be a shame to get the Stanley knife out  |

On one of the yellow covers the holes were large enough for the clips to pass through, the other didn't so I made a slit with a Stanley knife, passed the wires through and then glued the slits back together with some super glue.
