England 2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Indus Silver
Excellent article, and all true. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thanks for sharing. The last two sentences sum it up..

"It’s a good bet, in fact, that the new Defender will hugely surpass its progenitor in comfort, ergonomics, and efficiency—and in actual backcountry ability as well.
However, the Defender we knew, the one that inspired our dreams, is gone.
The new one will be made for a different world" 1998 Tdi 90 SW,

I love the renders, especially in Keswick !
I just wish I could afford one! So realistically, for me it'll be 10 years by the time I could have one. Laughing at least all the 'new car' issues will be ironed out by then. Laughing
I have considered buying a LHD FJ Cruiser, I love that look too.

The longer it takes, the bigger the impact the launch will have!

Damn. That Merc G looks pretty sweet, even in disguised form.

I would chose the Merc G class over the DC100.

Still no one has been able to explain to me why it is taking LR sooo long. If this were some electric, class-changing vehicle, set to revolutionise the way we travel, then I might understand it...a bit. But it's just a simple 4x4 - isn't it? If Mercedes price the new G Wagen properly, and if Ford really do release a global 'Defender' then LR are going to suffer in sales. I would love it if someone from LR came on here, right here on this thread, and explained to simple gimps like me why it takes so long to produce a rather simple 4x4.

Well, uh....they're not so simple any more....

I hope LR brings the 4 door truck version to the states. Would sell very well.

Having posted spy shots of a double cab G, suspected to be the all new model, it looks like it was a twin turbo V12 powered Maybach version under the diguise.

The engine will be fantastic but the car looks like the left over parts bin at Khan. HR064 Hampshire and Berkshire 4x4 Response
