For the old type aircon with cold knees think also about loosing space below the dash. For me this was the reason not to go this way, but modify the heater box - I have added the aircon there.
Using the newer dash is better, but too expensive - I have not found one for reasonable price. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo  |

You need lot of work. I have used the original TD5 aircon from another car, some used aircon evaporator and custom made pipes (TIG welded from old aircon pipes).
For the aircon evaporator I have modified the heater box, and added some electronically controlled bypass for the heating water. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo |

I was gonna look at some discovery here in country and try and take their parts to retro fit into mine. minus the compressor, as i rather buy that new.
I feel if i get the yr right i could get away with addin the aircon as you did. I know i will need the compressor, condenser, and evap/heater element. What electronics did you use to control the hot and cold option? |

Found China makes some nice roof mounted AC systems that only draw 12v power.
I will install the front AC system found on most Defenders, and for the rear i will install the roof mounted system. This way i only increase my height by 8" and keeping everyone cool in the rear... |

For control I use the original TD5 AC electronics. And because I have a plan to convert the 130 to long wagon, I have also plan to add second heater and second AC evaporator to the rear of car. Thank you for the info. I found a D2 TD5 Ac box, I will nab it before its gone, and will then look for the AC controller and wiring harness from a Gas version. I cannot seem to find any TD5 Aircon harnesses on the net. I will buy a new AC compressor and condenser, and make custom lines from my local market. Should be interestin since no one here has done it yet... I will also try and add a vents for the rear through the center console, with added fan control. |

For inspiration you can look on AC for first Defender or LR 110 - it is rare but all was integrated in the heater box. Some description is in LR manuals. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo
