Looking to have a DAB radio put into my Defender, looks like you can get a booster, which means you can use the original ariel

I bought a Kinetic 6006 (I think) from DAB on Wheels, to use with a new Alpine. The sound and reception are fantastic. Said best on roof but I wing mounted.

I've got the same unit.. std wing mounted aerial connected to a Alpine CDE136BT... Excellent reception and signal quality... So much so that I fitted it to the 90 also..

Slight hijack of thread - I am looking for a black flexible FM aerial to mount on the wing.
Used to be known as a "full wave antenna " as opposed to a half wave antenna which is what most now are i.e about 30cms in length whereas a full wave would be about 60cm +.
Just can't seem to find one
Any ideas?
Cheers

Was that easy enough to fit, i.e. getting the old unit out.
I think, on the Puma anyhow, it's tough to get to the standard aerial fixings.

I've got the Hirschman FM aerial.

Not cheap, but superb quality. Has stainless/anodised ally fittings so it'll last for ever and designed to fit the factory wing hole.

The actual aerial is coiled around the mast, so it's actually longer than the mast. which is 47cm ish.

The garage fitted this DAB aerial for me last year along with everything else during its big makeover. No idea what make etc but it looks great. No DAB outside of Paris in France so useless to me but hey Rolling Eyes It worked great in the UK while I was there. I can give you their number if you like. Its FM as well but I always use Apple Carplay for radio in the cars.

I am struggling to spend 90 quid on an aerial....
Bosch auto flex no longer exists as far as I can see. No straight flexible Hirschmann on Amazon nor for that matter on eBay
Seems strange that the market is so limited May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful.

I must admit i thought the same before biting the bullet, but it's well worth it for the quality, you'll never need to buy another. Even if the mast gets nicked you can buy replacement masts.
It also came with a good quality earth lead to run from the aerial base to a proper earthing point, rather than scraping paint off around the aerial hole (which promotes rust) and trying to get decent earth through a bolt on ally panel.

FM reception is like night and day compared to the OEM ones.

Most cars have them factory fitted these days, either on the roof or on glass. Most people aren't going to fit a bendy rubber or fibreglass one on a 30 year old classic car, anything younger than that likely came with something as standard.
